Quarantine Times

Hello my beautiful people, it is quarantine for 2 weeks until August 31, 2020. We can socially hangout with other teachers but we cannot socialise with community members. We can walk around the community by keeping 2 meters away from people and by wearing our masks.

It gives us time to settle, unpack, organise our things and get to know each other. I quite enjoy it to be honest. I have not had to do quarantine during this whole time as I kept working through it. It feels like a small remote vacation.

During this time, I have been able to go for a hike to a beautiful lake called "Blue Lake", have a fire, walk to the nearby lake "reservoir" which has a very sad history to it.

The reservoir is a lake but the community does not like to give it credit as a lake. It is called "Lake Williston", it was made by BC Hydro in the 1960's- the biggest reservoir in BC. Tsay Keh Dene was located exactly where the reservoir resides. It wiped out their houses, their community, their living. Very sad.

During the hike, I have learned about different berries and plants to make tea, and ice cream. I have yet to try making these or at least the tea.
