Hello my beautiful people,
Another week has gone by before the start of school. It was a week full of workshops and great learning. We had a couple of days learning about Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Conduct Disorder from a Clinical Psychologist located in Florida. It was long 10-11hours days, interesting but lots of information to take in. We also had a chance to get our classrooms set up, my office space set up, and beautiful sunsets on the way home too. We celebrated the end of orientation week by going to Blue Lake for some hot dogs and a fire.
We had 2 bears visit the teacher community, first he came on Sunday night and turned our garbage upside down, then he was shot the next day by the locals, however, there was fresh bear poop in front of my house so I was not convinced about there not being a second bear. Sure enough, another bear came and turned over everyone's garbage. They were shot the next day. The local people skin and hide the fur but cannot use the meat as it is a bear that ate garbage.
The upcoming week is the start of the new school year. Tuesday afternoon is a meet and greet of parents and students and Wednesday, the classes officially start. I will be teaching grade 5 and 6 until September 22 in the afternoons while Allison will teach mornings. I will be doing counselling in the mornings. Busy week ahead but very exciting!
