Hello my beautiful people,
It is getting really cold here. It is -25 -30 at night and during the day down to -10, except when there is wind it feels even colder. I am definitely wearing my winter coat and winter boots. It is beautiful here when it snows and the scenery is quiet. Enjoy the different landscapes below. Every day, there is a different light which gives a different mood.
Last week, I had an encounter where I had to take out my bear spray for the first time since being here. It was not for a bear though. It was for 2 wolf-dogs (cross bread between a dog and a wolf). There are quite a few here and they are usually tied up or should be! My neighbours have one who is always tied up and he is the one in the picture below. He got untied somehow, not sure how. Anyways, I was walking back from work with my roommate and this wolf-dog came up to us from behind. He seemed somewhat friendly and curious about us. However, then came another one who I have never seen before who was reddish in color, that one was not so friendly. He came right up to us and started growling. Then they both started growling at us. We took our backpacks off and I took my bear spray out. We swung our backpacks as that seemed to scare them off. Every time, we turned around, they would run up to us and growl. So, we had to walk backwards home, on the ice (it was SO slippery!), keeping swinging our backpacks to them and my roommate would yell at them. We made it home safe and sound, but it was the scariest walk home yet! I was glad my roommate was with me because I am not sure what I would have done otherwise. As soon as I got home, I went online and bought a dog pepper spray, which I now carry in my jacket at all times!
People here have been bitten by dogs ... so it is no joke!
I am lucky to have coworkers who like to cook! A co-worker gave me some Paleo chocolate pudding. It was delicious! It is made with pitted dates, coco powder, chia seeds, water and vanilla! Very healthy and yummy! I also cut her hair for her so in return she fed me dinner: chicken stuffed with pesto and parmesan wrapped in bacon and a salad - again so good! Eating well from time to time. Feels like a real treat. My roommate introduced me to Oat Milk and it is so nutritious. This will be my go-to from now on for milk instead of coconut milk. Tomorrow, Sunday, I am invited to another coworkers’ place and we will learn how to make pot stickers!
